We’re geeking out over our first wedding video, and we couldn’t have picked a better couple to film it for than David and Sylvia.
Their holiday-themed wedding took place at the turn of the new year in a sweet little park near their home in Monterey. The morning of their big day, a crew of friends and family pitched in to set up an impressive spread of DIY party decor. There was a handmade pergola, a selection of home-brewed beers, and no fewer than three cakes baked by Sylvia.
During the ceremony, Sylvia broke tradition in an emerald-green gown — yay for color! — and David won us over with his tie covered in dinosaurs. Plus, the vows they wrote for each other were as hilarious as they were heartfelt. (We’re not sure whether Sylvia does standup comedy, but she should.)
The reception was filled with pizza, lawn games, and dancers who brought their A-game. To top it off, Sylvia smashed open the piñata with her first swing, spilling goodies like lottery tickets and alcoholic candy for guests to collect. #badassbride
We feel so honored that David and Sylvia trusted us to document such an important day. After we arrived, the adrenaline kicked in, and somehow we ran around carrying camera gear for 12 hours straight. As soon as it was over, the numbness in our toes started fading and our arms began hurting with every move, leaving us with a couple days of sweet soreness to remind us how lucky we are to have this crazy-fun job.
We were both amazed by how Mary and Myles captured so many special moments and interpersonal dynamics.
While we didn't think we needed a videographer when we were planning the wedding, we're so happy now to have those cherished memories captured on tape, and in such a polished way!
